Applying to ALJBS

​Register on CampDoc

Our online application system for delegates not sponsored by local American Legion posts (non-sponsored delegates) is on CampDoc. Here we'll collect information like your name, email, address, school, etc.

Complete the Essay

You'll then complete your essay during your initial CampDoc registration.
You will be asked to provide a $50 application fee at this time which is non-refundable.
We will evaluate your essay and let you know if you've been accepted to attend ALJBS. ​​

If you're accepted, complete your Medical Form

You’ll be asked to fill out some basic medical info in our HIPAA-compliant electronic health record system.

Pay the ALJBS Tuition

​$275 tuition cost* that includes food, housing, and delegate supplies (including textbook, lanyards, etc.).

There are also some optional fees/costs after you are accepted to ALJBS. For example:
  • 3 college credits registration fees - $250
  • Family Day tickets
  • Extra delegate shirts - $20 each
  • Boys State Store souvenirs

​*If you're selected for a scholarship by an American Legion post, the tuition cost is refundable.

How long is it?
ALJBS is a week-long program running from Sunday, June 19, through Friday, June 24.
Where is it held?
ALJBS is held at Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ (about ten minutes away from Trenton).
When is it held?
ALJBS is held the week of Father’s Day each year. This year’s session begins on Sunday, June 19, and runs through Friday, June 24, 2022.
​Will it be onsite or can I go home?
All students must stay on campus throughout the week unless dismissed by the director. Once you check in on Sunday, you are part of the program for the week.
What happens during a typical day?
​A day at ALJBS usually runs from about 7:00am through 11:00pm, with speakers, campaigning and voting, sports and recreational activities, and other things throughout the day. You can find our full schedule at www.aljbs.org/events/
​Who is eligible?
​Young men who are finishing their junior year of high school and live in New Jersey are eligible for ALJBS.
Is there college credit for this?
College credit is available through Rider University. Details and cost summaries can be found at www.aljbs.org/collegecredit/
